Week 8

Eight weeks down and two remaining before the road to Auburn and the Super Six begins. Most regions are a lot clearer than they were just one week ago. Here are the interesting facts from this week's action.

   *  Glen Vickery won his 200th game as a head coach in Alabama when Daphne defeated Fairhope 28-14.

   *  T.R. Miller scored for the 301st consecutive games in a 34-27 loss to Trinity.

   *  Bibb County extended their 24 consecutive regular season victory streak with a 69-12 slaughter of Southside Selma.

   *  The Brantley Bulldogs top our list for the longest winning streak with 22 consecutive victories following a 51-0 win over Geneva County.  The win also extends their record to 62 straight region wins.

   *  Central Hayneville extended their string of consecutive losses to a state high 30.

   *  Carver Birmingham has lost a record 36 straight region games.

   *  Handley has a state high 24 consecutive home wins following a 47-14 victory over Walter Wellborn.

   *  Randy Ragsdale, head coach at Trinity, has 199 wins and could join the 200 club next week against Montgomery Academy.

   *  Colbert County extended their sting of consecutive playoff seasons to 30.



Note: The new schools will not be included in team records because of the obvious reasons.

Teams that set team records.

   *   Gordo, Isabella and Shoals Christian all set a new team mark for points scored in a game

   *   Teams that set team records for the most points allowed in a game included Montevallo, Priceville, South Choctaw Academy, Grissom, Southside Selma and Verbena.

   *   Gordo and St. Jude set new team records for largest margin of victory.

   *   Holly Pond, Montevallo, Priceville and Vrebena set team records for largest margin of defeat.

   *   The following teams set team records for points scored by both teams in a game; Berry Fayette, Florence, Grissom, Isabella, R.C. Hatch and Zion Chapel.

   *  Northridge - 6 games
   *  Providence Christian - 5 games
   *  Westminster Christian - 7 games



Teams set team records for the longest losing streaks in school history.

   *  Central Hayneville - 30 games
   *  Cold Springs - 23 games
   *  Priceville - 17 games
   *  Central Tuscaloosa - 16 games
   *  Wilcox Academy - 15 games
   *  Georgiana - 10 games
   *  Lanett - 9 games
