AHSFHS.org Report
(Sept. 5, 2010)

Week 2

This is the time of year when the weeks fly by. We are already two weeks into the 2010 season and a few tidbits on this past weekend's action.

  *  Coach Waldon Tucker continues his trek toward becoming the winningest coach in Alabama high school football history when Fayette County defeated Dora 27-7 on Thursday night. On Friday the Tigers will try to tie the record for their coach when they entertain Tarrant. Coach Tucker is after win number 303 which will top the mark set by Glenn  Daniel in 1992.

   *  Randolph won their first game in over thirty years when they defeated Brindlee Mountain on Friday 21-14. The Raiders did not field a football team from 1980-2009 and last won against Spring Garden in September of 1979.

   *  T.R. Miller fell to 0-2 for the first time since 1989 when the started the season 0-3. In 1989 after the slow start the Tigers won eight games in a row before falling to Pike County in the third round of the playoffs so do not count the Tigers out just yet. Also, 1989 was Coach Jamie Riggs first season at T.R. Miller.

   *  Patrician Academy lost to Monroe Academy 6-19 on Friday. The lose snapped a twenty-five game winning streak and pushed the Brantley Bulldogs to the top of our list of longest winning streak with sixteen consecutive victories. The only other team with a streak of more than ten games is Pike Liberal Arts with eleven straight wins.

   *  Central Hayneville continues to top our list with twenty-five consecutive losses.

   *  Linden has won twenty-four regular season games in a row.

   *   Handley won at home and their streak continues with twenty-one home wins in a row.

   *   Brantley won their fifty-seventh consecutive region game. While Hazel Green lost a region game for the thirty-third straight time.

   *  Prattville lost a region game for the first time since the 200 season when they fell to Stanhope Elmore 35-34. Their streak had reached an amazing fifty-four games before last Friday night.

   *  How about Coty Blanchard and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks? You may remember Coty from last season at Cherokee County. All he did was win a state championship and take home the Mr. Football honor for the 2009 season.

Note: The new schools will not be included in team records because of the obvious reasons.
