Several different services have produced high school football polls over the years including the Associated Press, the Alabama Sports Writers Association, United Press International, The Mobile Press, The Birmingham Herald, The Alabama Journal and other newspapers. The Alabama Sports Writers Association began publishing weekly high school football polls in 1960.
