Week 7

Seven weeks down and three remaining before the road to Auburn and the Super Six begins. Teams are looking to lock up playoff slots and secure home field advantage. Region championship races are beginning to become clearer and with two more weeks of region action the games are becoming very important with each week's football action.

   *  Mike Battles Jr. won his 100th game as a head coach when Bibb County defeated Greene County 49-0.

   *  T.R. Miller scored in the 36-35 thrilling win over Washington County to extend their scoring streak to an amazing 300 consecutive games.

   *  Bibb County extended their 22 consecutive regular season victory streak with a 49-0 win over Greene County.

   *  The Brantley Bulldogs top our list for the longest winning streak with 21 consecutive victories following a 56-6 win over J.F. Shields.  The win also extends their record to 61 straight region wins.

   *  Central Hayneville extended their string of consecutive losses to a state high 29.

   *  Carver Birmingham has lost a record 35 straight region games.

   *  Handley has a state high 23 consecutive home wins.

   *  Fred Yancey at Briarwood has won 200 games as a head coach. The Lions defeated Pinson Valley 45-6.

   *  Tanner and Maplesville both won but were unable to extend their streak of not allowing a point on defense in 2010.

   *  St. Lukes won their first game as a Varsity program. They defeated A.L. Johnson on Friday 38-20.

   *   Teams that set team records for the most points allowed in a game included Cold Springs and Holy Spirit.

   *   Vina set a new team records for largest margin of victory.

   *    Cold Springs, Fayetteville and Holy Spirit set team records for largest margin of defeat.

   *   The following teams set team records for points scored by both teams in a game; Fairfield, Jacksonville, Oneonta and Rehobeth.

   *  Central Hayneville - 29 games
   *  Cold Springs - 22 games

   *  Georgiana - 9 games

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
