Parker completed the 2016 season with a 5-4 record. Last year Parker finished sixth in Class 6A region five with a 2-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Since 2010, Parker has gone a combined 38-37. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Parker has managed to compile a record of 128-135. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 6A and 201st in the AHSAA. The Thundering Herd are led by head coach Andre Robinson who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 61-48 over the past ten seasons at Parker. Under his direction the Thundering Herd have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won one region crown with Coach Robinson. Coach Robinson's overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 64-55 (53.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Robinson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won one region championship. The Parker Thundering Herd will play in Class 6A region five during the 2017 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Thundering Herd if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. Senior Christopher Alexander returns after rushing for 593 yards on 85 carries and scoring 6 touchdowns. Also returning is Senior Javonte Hurst who rushed for 423 yards on 52 carries and scored 26 touchdowns. The defense returns Junior MLB Lavonta Bentley who registered 4 sacks for 19 yards in losses last season. The Thundering Herd open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Huffman on Friday, September 1 at Lawson Field. Last year the Huffman Vikings finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in seventh place in Class 7A region three. The Vikings ended last season on a positive note with a win over Bessemer City by a score of 16-3 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Parker and Huffman have met a total of 30 times on the football field. The Thundering Herd have a 13-17-0 record against the Vikings.
