Scottsboro completed the 2015 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region seven, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Scottsboro's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Walker by a score of 35-9. The Wildcats last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Scottsboro has gone a combined 21-42. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Scottsboro has managed to compile a record of 128-144. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 5A and 218th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Patrick Nix who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-17 over the past three seasons at Scottsboro. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Nix. Coach Nix's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 16-17 (48.5%). The Scottsboro Wildcats will play in Class 5A region seven during the 2016 season. The Wildcats may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region seven this year. The Wildcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season. Running back DK Billingsley returns for his senior season after rushing for 1,062 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior last year. Quarterback Bo Nix returns for his sophomore season after completing 84 of 164 passes for 1,298 yards and 15 touchdowns as a freshman last season. The Wildcats open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Fort Payne on Friday, August 26 at Pat Trammell Stadium. Last year the Fort Payne Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in first place in Class 6A region seven. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Briarwood by a score of 30-26. Scottsboro and Fort Payne have met a total of 88 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 32-53-3 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2015 with Fort Payne winning by a score of 38-21. Scottsboro returns 6A All-State Senior athlete DeKarlos Billingsley.
