Leroy completed the 2016 season with a 8-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region one, the Bears earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Leroy reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Aliceville by a score of 36-33. The Bears had some tough luck last season as three of their four losses were by less than eight points. Since 2010, Leroy has gone a combined 48-35. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 2A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Leroy has gone a combined 237-93. Their 72.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 2A and 22nd in the AHSAA. The Bears have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. The Bears are led by head coach Jason Massey who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 25-20 over the past four seasons at Leroy. The Bears open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Satsuma on Friday, September 1 at Copeland Field. Last year the Satsuma Gators finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region one. The Gators lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to St. James by a score of 49-21. Leroy and Satsuma have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
