 2017 Preview

Millry completed the 2016 season with a 4-7 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region one, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Millry's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Georgiana by a score of 28-6.

Since 2010, Millry has gone a combined 33-41. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 1A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Millry has managed to compile a record of 151-132. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 1A and 154th in the AHSAA.

The Wildcats are led by head coach Greg Crager who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-7 record in his first season at Millry. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Crager.

Coach Crager's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 4-7 (36.4%).

The Millry Wildcats will play in Class 1A region one during the 2017 season. The Wildcats have one of the toughest schedules in Class 1A. Their opponents had a combined record of 60-51 last season. That ranks 6th in Class 1A and 102nd in the AHSAA.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season.

Junior Emmanuel Mitchell returns after rushing for 751 yards on 148 carries and scoring 8 touchdowns.

The defense returns Sophomore defender Trey Lewis who registered 5 interceptions last year.

The Wildcats open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Washington County on Thursday, August 31 at Jordan Wilcox Stadium. Last year the Washington County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in third place in Class 2A region one. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Samson by a score of 12-42.

Millry and Washington County have met a total of 87 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 24-59-4 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2016 with Washington County winning by a score of 35-0.

Millry returns 1A All-State sophomore defensive back Trey Lewis. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
