 2016 Preview

Aliceville completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region four, the Yellow Jackets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Aliceville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Pike County by a score of 14-6.

Since 2010, Aliceville has gone a combined 40-26. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Aliceville has gone a combined 196-97. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 2A and 40th in the AHSAA.

The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach Rico Jackson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Aliceville. Under his direction the Yellow Jackets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jackson.

Coach Jackson's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 22-19 (53.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Jackson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

The Aliceville Yellow Jackets will play in Class 2A region four during the 2016 season. The Yellow Jackets may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 3A to 2A. They will compete in region four this year. Aliceville will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

The Yellow Jackets should be considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Yellow Jackets have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1995 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Gordo on Friday, August 26 at Green Wave Stadium. Last year the Gordo Green Wave finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in first place in Class 3A region four.
