2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thorsby completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region four, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Thorsby's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Providence Christian by a score of 17-6. The Rebels last playoff victory came during the 2003 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Thorsby has gone a combined 25-38. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 2A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Thorsby has not won much with a record of 77-178. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 2A and 346th in the AHSAA. The Rebels are led by head coach Billy Jackson who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 27-46 over the past seven seasons at Thorsby. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jackson. Coach Jackson's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 27-46 (37.0%). The Thorsby Rebels will play in Class 2A region four during the 2016 season. Thorsby will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season. The Rebels should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Rebels open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Prattville Christian on Friday, August 19 at Panther Field. Last year the Prattville Christian Panthers finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 3A region three. The Panthers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Holtville by a score of 24-20 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Thorsby and Prattville Christian have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 4-2-0 record against the Panthers.
