Week 3


The 2016 season is flying by after three weeks of games! Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *  The Leeds Green Wave extended their state leading winning streak to 15 after defeating Elmore County 48-14. Bessemer Academy leads all AISA schools with a streak of 15 consecutive wins but took the week off.

   *   Arab upset #9 Alexandria 20-14 Friday night. It marked their first victory over a ranked team since a 20-10 victory over Guntersville in 1993.

   *   The Alabama Christian defense pitched a shutout in a 21-0 win over Bullock County. It was their first shutout since the 2004 season.

   *   Murphy was shutout by McGill-Tool 43-0. It marked the first blanking of the Panthers since the 2005 season some 123 games ago. Hamilton was shutout by Haleyville snapping a string of 106 games in which the Aggies had scored.

   *   Russell County leads the state with a string of twenty-five straight losses following a close 15-14 loss to Dothan.

   *   Bullock County has lost 47 consecutive region games after falling to Alabama Christian.

   *   The Guntersville Wildcats have won 30 straight regular season games after defeating Boaz 41-0.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 48 consecutive region wins. The Rattlers defeated West End 41-16 as they opened region play.

   *   Guntersville still leads with a string of 21 consecutive home wins after their home field victory over Boaz.

   *   Red Bay, with a string of 15 consecutive road victories, leads all other football teams as road warriors.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 80 straight games following a 36-14 win over Walker. That is a state record.

   *   Fyffe, who beat Asbury 46-7, extended their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 208 games without being shutout.

   *  Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 177 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs bounced back to defeat Mountain Brook 19-3.

   *   Ernie Willingham, the head football coach at Collinsville picked up his 100th win in a 27-6 victory over Ider. His overall record stands at 100-70.

   *   Coach Danny Raines at Berry Fayette picked up his 100th win as a head coach as his team destroyed Brilliant 71-22 Friday night. His overall record stands at 100-53.

   *   Jerry Hood also joins the 100 win list as Clay-Chalkville defeated Walker 36-14. His records is 100-47.

 * Berry Fayette set a team record in a win 71-22 over Brilliant breaking the previous record set when they defeated Shoals Christian 68-36 on 9/25/2015.

 * Brooks set a team record in a win 64-14 over Ardmore breaking the previous record set when they defeated Fairview 58-29 on 11/7/2008.

 * Loachapoka set a team record in a win 82-44 over Autaugaville breaking the previous record set when they defeated Clayton 66-0 on 10/11/1996.



Points allowed in a game

 * Autaugaville set a team record in a 82-44 loss to Loachapoka breaking the previous record set when they lost to R.C. Hatch 68-20 on 10/30/2014.

 * Crossville set a team record in a 63-21 loss to Scottsboro breaking the previous record set when they lost to Geraldine 63-27 on 10/31/2013.

 * Saks set a team record in a 63-24 loss to Jacksonville breaking the previous record set when they lost to Weaver 60-6 on 9/24/2004.



Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Autaugaville set a team record in a loss 82-44 to Loachapoka breaking the previous record set when they defeated St. Jude 58-32 on 10/17/2003.

 * Loachapoka set a team record in a 82-44 victory over Autaugaville breaking the previous record set in a loss to G.W. Long 40-38 on 11/19/1999.



Teams with current school record losing streaks

 * Barbour County has lost a team record 24 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
 * Coosa Valley Academy has lost a team record 22 consecutive games since 11/8/2013.
 * Holtville has lost a team record 22 consecutive games since 8/22/2014.
 * Brilliant has lost a team record 19 consecutive games since 9/19/2014.
 * Tharptown has lost a team record 16 consecutive games since 10/17/2014.
 * Vincent has lost a team record 16 consecutive games since 10/17/2014.
 * Center Point has lost a team record 10 consecutive games since 9/18/2015.


Teams that set a record for most wins in a season

 * Mars Hill tied a team record with a 2-1 record. That ties the previous mark of 2-8-0 in 2015.



Teams off to great starts in 2016
 * Carver Birmingham last started a season 3-0 in 2003.
 * Goshen last started a season 2-0 in 2000.
 * J.B. Pennington last started a season 3-0 in 1999.
 * Ohatchee last started a season 3-0 in 2001.
 * Randolph has never started 3-0 in a season.


Teams off to slow starts in 2016
 * Athens last started a season 0-2 in 1995.
 * Fairhope last started a season 0-3 in 1999.
 * Fort Payne last started a season 0-3 in 2001.
 * Gadsden City has never started 0-3 in a season.
 * Pleasant Grove last started a season 0-2 in 1995.
 * Ranburne last started a season 0-2 in 2003.
 * Westminster Christian has never started 0-3 in a season.






Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
