Week 4


The 2017 season is in full swing. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *   Maplesville has the state's longest winning streak at 26 games following a 70-19 beatdown of Highland Home.

   *   Barbour County lost to G.W. Long by a score of 47-6 and still has the state's longest losing streak at thirty-four games.

   *   Bullock County has lost 53 consecutive region games following a very close 7-6 loss to region foe Ashford.

   *   Fyffe extended their 21 game regular season winning streak with another runaway victory over Westbrook Christian by a score of 54-6.

   *   Tanner had a streak of 54 consecutive region wins snapped when they fell to Winston County 32-27 in a region contest. The state's longest region winning streak now belongs to Maplesville who was not far behind with a string of 49 straight region victories.

   *   Piedmont has the state's longest home winning streak at twenty-two games. The Bulldogs came from behind to defeat a very good Randolph County squad by a score of 41-31. Monroe Academy (29) lead the AISA schools.

   *    Maplesville has won 23 consecutive road games following their impressive victory on the road this past Friday night.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 41 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 224 games without being shutout.

   *   Thompson defeated #10 Mountain Brook 40-13. Their last win over a ranked opponent happened back in 2004. Winston County pulled off their first victory over a top ten team since the 2009 season when they defeated Tanner.

   *   Cleburne County was shutout for the first time since the 2008 season, some 95 games ago when they fell to Valley 27-0.

   *   Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 189 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs are the #2 team in Class 7A.

   *   Smitty Grider won his 100th game as a head football coach on Friday as Park Crossing defeated Northview 47-9.

 * Austin set a team record in a win 63-33 over Huffman tying the previous record set when they defeated Hazel Green 63-21 on 9/15/2017.

 * Central Florence set a team record in a win 72-7 over Priceville breaking the previous record set in a victory over Butler 70-36 on 9/24/2010.

 * Central Hayneville set a team record in a win 62-0 over Calhoun breaking the previous record set in a victory over Calhoun 58-0 on 10/24/2003.

 * Lyman Ward set a team record in a win 54-42 over Peoples Baptist GA tying the previous record set when they defeated Spring Garden 54-13 on 10/1/1999.

 * Central Florence set a team record by defeating Priceville 72-7 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Lee Huntsville 59-0 on 11/1/1963.

 * Central Hayneville set a team record by defeating Calhoun 62-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Calhoun 58-0 on 10/24/2003.

 * Maplesville has won a team record 26 consecutive games since 10/2/2015.
 * Fyffe has won a team record 18 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.


Teams with current school record losing streaks

 * Barbour County has lost a team record 34 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
 * Center Point has lost a team record 21 consecutive games since 9/18/2015.
 * Ellwood Christian has lost a team record 20 consecutive games since 9/17/2015.
 * White Plains has lost a team record 18 consecutive games since 10/2/2015.
 * Choctaw County has lost a team record 15 consecutive games since 10/16/2015.
 * Columbia has lost a team record 15 consecutive games since 10/23/2015.
 * Asbury has lost a team record 13 consecutive games since 8/25/2016.
 * Northside Methodist Academy has lost a team record 7 consecutive games since 10/21/2016.

 * Mars Hill set a team record with a 2-2 record. That ties the previous mark of 2-8-0 in 2015.

 * Plainview last started a season 4-0 in 2003.
 * St. Lukes has never started 2-0 in a season.
 * Sulligent last started a season 3-0 in 1966.

 * Alabama School Deaf last started a season 0-4 in 1968.
 * Chelsea last started a season 0-4 in 2001.
 * Conecuh Springs Christian has never started 0-2 in a season.
 * Evangel Christian Academy last started a season 0-5 in 2003.
 * Russellville last started a season 0-3 in 1997.
 * Smiths Station has never started 0-4 in a season.
 * Tuscaloosa Christian last started a season 0-4 in 1992.







Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
