Week 10


The playoffs begin next week. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *   Maplesville has the state's longest winning streak at 31 games following another victory. The Red Devils defeated Loachapoka 56-6.

   *   Barbour County lost to Geneva County by a score of 44-0 and still has the state's longest losing streak at forty games.

   *   Bullock County closed out their 2017 region play and has lost 58 consecutive region games following a non-region loss to Abbeville.

   *   Fyffe extended their 27 game regular season winning streak with a 56-0 victory over Gaston.

   *   The state's longest region winning streak also belongs to Maplesville who has a string of 52 straight region victories.

   *   Piedmont has the state's longest home winning streak at twenty-five games after taking the week off prior to another Super Seven title run. Monroe Academy (32) lead the AISA schools.

   *   Maplesville (27) and Fyffe (26) lead all the others in consecutive road victories following their latest wins.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 46 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 230 games without being shutout.

   *   Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 195 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs are the #2 team in Class 7A.

   *   Jonathan McWhorter, the head football coach at Cedar Bluff won his 100th game over the weekend. His record stands at 100-43 in a dozen seasons at the helm. Clint Smith at Jacksonville also accomplished the same feat as his team defeated Cherokee County 45-21.

   *   Fayette County with 675 victories all-time takes a one game lead over T.R. Miller this week. Since Miller will miss the post season this year, Fayette County is virtually assured to take that lead into next season.

 * Austin set a team record in a win 69-28 over Athens breaking the previous record set in a victory over Hazel Green 63-21 on 9/15/2017.

 * Colbert Heights set a team record by defeating East Lawrence 44-2 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Hatton 41-0 on 10/3/1980.



Margin of Defeat in a game

 * Ellwood Christian set a team record in a loss 70-0 to Isabella breaking the previous record set when they lost to Maplesville 63-0 on 9/22/2017.



Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Athens set a team record in a loss 69-28 to Austin breaking the previous record set when they defeated Decatur 96-0 on .

 * Kinston set a team record in a 58-50 victory over Florala breaking the previous record set in a loss to Florala 51-48 on 9/20/1996.

 * Maplesville has won a team record 31 consecutive games since 10/2/2015.
 * Fyffe has won a team record 24 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.
 * Autauga Academy has won a team record 23 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.

 * Barbour County has lost a team record 40 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
 * Calhoun has lost a team record 30 consecutive games since 10/31/2014.

 * Pinson Valley set a team record with a 9-0 record. That ties the previous mark of 9-3-0 in 2011.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
