 2017 Preview

Coosa Christian finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-8 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region six, the Conquerors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Coosa Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Pickens County by a score of 55-7.

It marked the first time since the 2009 season that the Conquerors qualified for the playoffs. The Conquerors last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Coosa Christian averaged scoring just 13.6 points a game.

The Conquerors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-18 record. Since 2010, the Coosa Christian football program has struggled with a record of 18-53.

Over the past 25 seasons, Coosa Christian has managed to compile a record of 113-143. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 1A and 245th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2009.

Chris Sanders leaves Coosa Christian after one season as the interim coach and a 3-8 record on the football field.

Navendra Woods takes over the reins at Coosa Christian for the 2017 season.

The Conquerors begin the season with their eighth different head coach over the past eleven seasons.

The Coosa Christian Conquerors will play in Class 1A region six during the 2017 season.

The Conquerors will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season.

The Conquerors open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Holly Pond on Friday, August 25 at Holly Pond Stadium. Last year the Holly Pond Broncos finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 3A region six. The Broncos lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Piedmont by a score of 55-26.

Coosa Christian and Holly Pond have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Conquerors have a 0-2-0 record against the Broncos. They last met in 2016 with Holly Pond winning by a score of 49-0.
