 2017 Preview 


       Gaylesville finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Gaylesville finished sixth in Class 1A region six with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Trojans last playoff victory came during the 1975 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Gaylesville was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Trojans want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.8 points a game.

       Since 2010, Gaylesville has gone a combined 25-47. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 1A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Gaylesville has managed to compile a record of 97-170. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 1A and 305th in the AHSAA.

       The Trojans are led by head coach Kyle Garmon who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-27 over the past four seasons at Gaylesville. Under his direction the Trojans have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Garmon.

       Coach Garmon's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 13-27 (32.5%).

       The Gaylesville Trojans will play in Class 1A region six during the 2017 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Trojans could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region six this season. Gaylesville has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2013 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Trojans open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Section on Friday, September 1 at Section Stadium. Last year the Section Lions finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 2A region six. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Woodville by a score of 18-14.

       Gaylesville and Section have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Trojans have a 5-9-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2016 with Gaylesville winning by a score of 26-6.
