 2016 Preview

McAdory completed the 2015 season with a 10-2 record. Last year McAdory captured the region four title and a number one seed in the Class 6A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. McAdory reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Benjamin Russell by a score of 34-3.

Over the past two seasons the Yellow Jackets have gone 22-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, McAdory has gone a combined 63-15. Their 81.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, McAdory has gone a combined 205-86. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 6A and 30th in the AHSAA. The Yellow Jackets have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 1996.

The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach David Powell who is entering his twenty-third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 196-65 over the past twenty-two seasons at McAdory. Under his direction the Yellow Jackets have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-one times. They have won eleven region crowns with Coach Powell.

Coach Powell's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-two season stands at 196-65 (75.1%). His 196 wins rank 10th among active coaches in the AHSAA.

Coach Powell needs four wins this season to reach the coveted 200 win milestone.

The McAdory Yellow Jackets will play in Class 6A region four during the 2016 season.

The Yellow Jackets enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. McAdory has won 12 consecutive region games.

While most teams rebuild during the off season, McAdory has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Yellow Jackets should be considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Yellow Jackets have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1996 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

The Yellow Jackets have put together a streak of 19 consecutive winning seasons and hope to extend that streak in 2016.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Pinson Valley on Friday, August 19 at Willie Adams Stadium. Last year the Pinson Valley Indians finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region six. The Indians lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Austin by a score of 35-7.

McAdory and Pinson Valley have met a total of 24 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 12-12-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2015 with Pinson Valley winning by a score of 24-21.

McAdory returns 6A All-State Senior athlete Malcolm Askew. He was named to the second team last season.

College prospects include: Dakota Chapman (6-1, 240) inside linebacker, Malcolm Askew (5-10, 183) athlete, Shelton Dolby (6-2, 280) offensive center, Willie Langham (6-1, 170) receiver,
