 2016 Preview 


       Northridge completed the 2015 season with a 9-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region four, the Jaguars earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Northridge reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Spanish Fort by a score of 51-14.

       Since 2010, Northridge has gone a combined 34-32. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 13 seasons, Northridge has managed to compile a record of 57-79. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 6A and 258th in the AHSAA.

Michael Smith leaves Northridge after 13 seasons at the school. His record at Northridge stands at 57-79 including 2-6 in the playoffs.


Mike Vickery takes over the helm at Northridge after serving as the offensive coordinator at Daphne and as an assistant coach the past dozen years. He was also an assistant at Davidson under his father Glenn Vickery for three seasons.



       The Northridge Jaguars will play in Class 6A region four during the 2016 season.

       The Jaguars should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Jaguars open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Tuscaloosa County on Friday, August 26 at Wildcat Field. Last year the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 7A region three. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Homewood by a score of 34-14.

       Northridge and Tuscaloosa County have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 4-14-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2015 with Northridge winning by a score of 24-14.

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
