 2016 Preview 


       Baker completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Baker finished sixth in Class 7A region one with a 4-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 1984 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Since 2010, Baker has gone a combined 34-28. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Baker has not won much with a record of 60-192. Their 24.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 7A and 366th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2010.

       The Hornets are led by head coach Danny Smith who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-4 record in his first season at Baker. The Hornets have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Smith.

       Coach Smith's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 6-4 (60.0%).

       The Baker Hornets will play in Class 7A region one during the 2016 season.

       The Hornets enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak.

       The Hornets will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. Baker came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

      Running back Darius Bracy returns for his senior season after rushing for 597 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior last year.

      The Hornets also return backfield mate Tre McMillian who ran for 534 yards and 3 touchdowns as a junior.

       The Hornets open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Saraland on Friday, August 19 at Hornet Field. Last year the Saraland Spartans finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class 6A region one. The Spartans lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Benjamin Russell by a score of 41-10.

       This will be the second meeting between Baker and Saraland on the football field. The Hornets have a 0-1-0 record against the Spartans. They last met in with
