 2016 Preview 


       Foley completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-4 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 7A region one, the Lions earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Foley's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Central Phenix City by a score of 34-14.

       Since 2010, Foley has gone a combined 44-27. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Foley has managed to compile a record of 144-127. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 7A and 155th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2009.

       The Lions are led by head coach Tad Niblett who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Foley. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Niblett.

       Coach Niblett's overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 42-46 (47.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Niblett's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won one region championship.

       The Foley Lions will play in Class 7A region one during the 2016 season.

       The Lions should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2004 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2016.

       The Lions open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Robertsdale on Friday, August 19 at Ivan Jones Stadium. Last year the Robertsdale Golden Bears finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 6A region one. The Golden Bears closed out the regular season with a loss to Baldwin County by a score of 21-18.

       Foley and Robertsdale have met a total of 100 times on the football field. The Lions have a 77-17-6 record against the Golden Bears. They last met in 2015 with Foley winning by a score of 35-19.
