2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Davidson finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Davidson finished seventh in Class 7A region one with a 2-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Warriors lost as many games as in any season since 2000. Davidson was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Warriors want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.5 points a game. Since 2010, Davidson has gone a combined 40-25. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 7A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Davidson has managed to compile a record of 150-122. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 7A and 131st in the AHSAA. The Warriors are led by head coach Fred Riley who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 94-44 over the past twelve seasons at Davidson. Under his direction the Warriors have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Riley. Coach Riley's overall record as a head football coach in twenty season stands at 122-95 (56.2%). His 122 wins rank 40th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Riley's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won three region championships. The Davidson Warriors will play in Class 7A region one during the 2016 season. The Warriors have one of the toughest schedules in Class 7A. Their opponents had a combined record of 67-45 last season. That ranks 5th in Class 7A and 33rd in the AHSAA. It will be an uphill battle for the Warriors if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. The Warriors open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Daphne on Friday, August 19 at Jubilee Stadium. Last year the Daphne Trojans finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 6A region one. The Trojans lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Opelika by a score of 51-0. Davidson and Daphne have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 7-13-0 record against the Trojans. They last met in 2010 with Daphne winning by a score of 47-14. College prospects include: Zsajuan Powe (5-10, 185) cornerback, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
