2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ramsay completed the 2015 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region five, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Ramsay's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Guntersville by a score of 14-6. The defense was very stingy last season as Ramsay ranked 20th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 12.2 points a game. Ramsay is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only four seasons. They have managed a record of 20-23 over the past four years. The Rams are led by head coach Reuben Nelson who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-23 over the past four seasons at Ramsay. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Nelson. Coach Nelson's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 60-51 (54.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Nelson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won two region championships. The Ramsay Rams will play in Class 6A region five during the 2016 season. The Rams move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The Rams should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Rams open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Pinson Valley on Friday, August 26 at Lawson Field. Last year the Pinson Valley Indians finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region six. The Indians lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Austin by a score of 35-7. Ramsay and Pinson Valley have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Rams have a 2-5-0 record against the Indians. They last met in with College prospects include: Austin Brundidge (5-10, 200) safety, Cardell Jones (6-3, 200) outside linebacker, Jalen Gladney (6-0, 285) defensive tackle, Jonathan Bishop (6-2, 317) offensive guard, Justin Whisenhunt (6-1, 210) outside linebacker, Matthew Kenty (6-2, 219) outside linebacker, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
