Daphne completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 5-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region one, the Trojans earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Daphne's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Opelika by a score of 51-0. The Trojans lost as many games as in any season since 2009. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Daphne has gone a combined 54-18. Their 75.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 6A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Daphne has gone a combined 212-88. Their 71.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 6A and 25th in the AHSAA. The Trojans have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2009. Glenn Vickery retired from his duties at Daphne after a dozen seasons as the head football coach. His teams went 107-41 and reached the playoffs each year. The 2010 team won a class 6A state championship with a win over Hoover. He retires with an overall record of 245-111 in 31 seasons at Mobile Christian, Davidson and Daphne. Kenny King is a graduate of Daphne High School and the University of Alabama where he was a football star with both programs. He later played in the NFL for the Cardinals and the Ravens before retiring in 2008 due to injuries. He has served as the defensive line coach the past three seasons at Hamilton High in Chandler, Arizonia. The Daphne Trojans will play in Class 6A region one during the 2016 season. The Trojans should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 1997 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2016. The Trojans open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Davidson on Friday, August 19 at Jubilee Stadium. Last year the Davidson Warriors finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 7A region one. The Warriors closed out the regular season with a loss to Baker by a score of 41-20. Daphne and Davidson have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Trojans have a 13-7-0 record against the Warriors. They last met in 2010 with Daphne winning by a score of 47-14. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
