 2016 Preview 


       Autaugaville completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Autaugaville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 1A region three with a 2-3 region record.

       The Eagles hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Walker saw improvement as they won six games following a 1-8 record in 2014.

       Since 2010, Autaugaville has gone a combined 31-33. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Autaugaville has managed to compile a record of 165-117. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 1A and 105th in the AHSAA.

James Brothers leaves Autaugaville after spending the past four seasons leading the football program. His teams finished a combined 18-23 including 1-1 in the post season. He accepted the head coaching job at Marbury.


Leon Walker takes over the head coaching duties at Autaugaville this season. This will be his first head coaching job.



       The Autaugaville Eagles will play in Class 1A region three during the 2016 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Eagles could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region three this season. Unfortunately, Autaugaville finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. Autaugaville missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2016.

       The Eagles open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent J.F. Shields on Friday, August 26 at Panther Field (The Pit). Last year the J.F. Shields Panthers finished with an overall record of 0-8 and in seventh place in Class 1A region one. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Florala by a score of 58-18.

       Autaugaville and J.F. Shields have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 4-1-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 1997 with Autaugaville winning by a score of 39-12.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
