 2016 Preview

Loachapoka completed the 2015 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region three, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Loachapoka's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Marengo by a score of 30-26.

Loachapoka was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Indians want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.9 points a game.

Since 2010, Loachapoka has gone a combined 34-33. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Loachapoka has managed to compile a record of 159-118. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 1A and 112nd in the AHSAA.

The Indians are led by head coach Jerome Tate who is entering his twenty-second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 149-90 over the past twenty-one seasons at Loachapoka. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of seventeen times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Tate.

Coach Tate's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-two season stands at 153-95 (61.7%). His 153 wins rank 18th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Tate's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seventeen times and won four region championships.

The Loachapoka Indians will play in Class 1A region three during the 2016 season. The Indians have one of the toughest schedules in Class 1A. Their opponents had a combined record of 58-43 last season. That ranks 2nd in Class 1A and 69th in the AHSAA.

The Indians enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

The Indians will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2002 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2016.

The Indians open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Georgiana on Friday, August 19 at Loachapoka Stadium. Last year the Georgiana Panthers finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in first place in Class 1A region two. The Panthers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Maplesville by a score of 36-28.

Loachapoka and Georgiana have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Indians have a 0-3-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2007 with Georgiana winning by a score of 17-0.
