Ramsay completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region five, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Ramsay reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Center Point by a score of 9-0. The Rams hope to get back closer to the 13-1 record in 2020. Ramsay is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only ten seasons. They have managed a record of 80-41 over the past ten years. Over the past 10 seasons, Ramsay has managed to compile a record of 80-41. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 5A and 60th in the AHSAA. The Rams are led by head coach Ronnie Jackson. who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Ramsay. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jackson.. Coach Jackson.'s overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 6-5 (54.5%). The Rams will be young this year with just eleven seniors on the squad. Coach Jackson is just looking to improve on the six wins from last season. The Ramsay Rams will play in Class 5A region five during the 2022 season. The Rams have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 66-49 last season. That ranks 3rd in Class 5A and 61st in the AHSAA. The Rams will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region five this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2022. The Rams open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Hueytown on Friday, August 19 at Lawson Field. Last year the Hueytown Golden Gophers finished with an overall record of 13-2 and in first place in Class 6A region four. The Golden Gophers lost in the Class 6A State Championship game last season when they were defeated by Clay-Chalkville. They final score was 46-42 in the Super Seven finals in Birmingham. Ramsay and Hueytown have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Rams have a 6-3-0 record against the Golden Gophers.
