Fairfield completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region five, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Fairfield's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Fairview by a score of 30-28. The Tigers improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2016. The Tigers had some tough luck last season as three of their four losses were by less than eight points. Since 2010, Fairfield has gone a combined 67-60. Their 52.8% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Fairfield has managed to compile a record of 141-130. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 5A and 165th in the AHSAA. The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Shepherd Skanes as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Skanes served as an assistant at Miles College last season. The Fairfield Tigers will play in Class 5A region five during the 2022 season. The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Parker on Friday, August 19 at Clements Field. Last year the Parker Thundering Herd finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in second place in Class 5A region five. The Thundering Herd lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 5A playoffs to Fairview by a score of 44-27. Fairfield and Parker have met a total of 20 times on the football field.
