2013 Season Scoring Averages

There are 33 teams averaging over 40 points a game through seven weeks of play this season. Calera fell to third following a close lose to Bibb County. Maplesville jumps to the lead by averaging 55.0 points per game followed by Marion County at 53.6 and Calera with an average of 52.1. On the bottom of the pile are Cottage Hill Christian (4.0), Lyman Ward (4.4), and Bullock County (4.6).

Muscle Shoals saw their points allowed average fall to 2.3 per game when the defense shutout another opponent in a 49-0 thrashing of East Limestone Friday night. On the other end, the Lynn defense is giving up an average of 53.1 points per game during the first seven weeks of the 2013 season.

Maplesville again leads in point differential average by defeating seven opponents by an average of 44.4 points per game. Piedmont takes over second with an average winning margin of 44.0 in their seven wins.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
