2013 Season Scoring Averages

There are 35 teams averaging over 40 points a game midway through the season. Maplesville holds a slight lead by averaging 54.2 points per game followed by surprising Marengo at 54.0 and Calera with an average of 53.4. On the bottom of the pile are Lyman Ward, who forfeited to Bessemer Academy last week, Woodlawn (1.2), Hueytown (2.6) and Holt (3.6).

Muscle Shoals saw their points allowed average jump to 1.4 when the defense allowed a late TD to Dora on Friday night. It is the only time they have allowed their goal line to be crossed this season. Last year they allowed only nine points through their first five games. On the other end, Bullock County is giving up an average of 51.4 points per game during the first five weeks of the 2013 season.

Maplesville still leads in point differential average by defeating five opponents by an average of 45.8.5 points. Muscle Shoals is second with an average winning margin of 43.8 in their five wins.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
