 2017 Preview

Tarrant completed the 2016 season with a 4-5 record. Last year Tarrant just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region seven with a 3-3 region record.

Since 2010, Tarrant has gone a combined 22-48. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 2A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Tarrant has managed to compile a record of 135-140. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 2A and 197th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010.

The Wildcats are led by head coach Eric Johnson who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 35-67 over the past ten seasons at Tarrant. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Johnson.

Coach Johnson's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 35-67 (34.3%).

The Tarrant Wildcats will play in Class 2A region seven during the 2017 season.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season. Tarrant missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2017.

The Wildcats open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Fultondale on Thursday, August 31 at Tarrant Stadium. Last year the Fultondale Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in first place in Class 3A region six. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Weaver by a score of 37-7.

Tarrant and Fultondale have met a total of 35 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 22-13-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2016 with Fultondale winning by a score of 46-7.
