 2017 Preview 


       Rogers completed the 2016 season with a 12-1 record. The Pirates cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Rogers captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Pirates since the 2010 season. Rogers lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Madison Academy team by a score of 25-7.

       No team at Rogers ever won more games in a season than the twelve victories last year. The last time they won as many was back in 1989. The 413 points scored by the Pirates last year were a team record in a single season. It marked the first time since the 2012 season that the Pirates qualified for the playoffs. The Pirates hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Martin saw improvement as they won twelve games following a 6-4 record in 2015.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Rogers ranked 12th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 12.6 points a game.

       Since 2010, Rogers has gone a combined 46-33. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Rogers has managed to compile a record of 141-140. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 4A and 194th in the AHSAA.

       The Pirates are led by head coach Randall Martin who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 28-26 over the past five seasons at Rogers. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Martin.

       Coach Martin's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 28-26 (51.9%).

       Coach Martin is coming off the best season in school history and looking forward to another stellar season in 2017.

       The Rogers Pirates will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2017 season.

       The Pirates enter the 2017 season riding a 11 game regular season winning streak.

       The Pirates should be considered one of the favorites for the region eight championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Pirates open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Loretto TN on Friday, August 25 at Pirate Field.

       Rogers and Loretto TN have met a total of 33 times on the football field. The Pirates have a 18-14-1 record against Loretto TN. They last met in 2016 with Rogers winning by a score of 46-14.

       Rogers returns 4A All-State Senior receiver Kade Lucius. He was named to the second team last season. The Pirates also return Junior offensive lineman Nick Canfield. He was named to the first team.
