West Blocton completed the 2015 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region four, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. West Blocton's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Andalusia by a score of 48-0. The Tigers hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just five games which followed a 10-2 record in 2014. Since 2010, West Blocton has gone a combined 31-34. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, West Blocton has managed to compile a record of 111-153. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 4A and 267th in the AHSAA. Gregg Farnetti stepped down following the 2015 season after 12 years as the head football coach at the school he graduated from in 1988. His twelve teams combined for a 62-66 record with seven playoff appearances but only a single post season victory. His best team, in 2014, finished with a 10-2 record and picked up the only playoff win and won a region championship. Eric Hiott was promoted to the head coaching position in December at West Blocton. Hiott is a graduate of West Blocton and Troy State. He has served the past few seasons as an assistant at the school. He has held a head coaching job previously at Dallas County. His one team in 2005 finished with a 2-8 record. Coach Hiott's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 2-8 (20.0%). The West Blocton Tigers will play in Class 4A region four during the 2016 season. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Brookwood on Friday, August 19 at Tiger Field. Last year the Brookwood Panthers finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 6A region four. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Holt by a score of 14-13. West Blocton and Brookwood have met a total of 69 times on the football field.
