Cullman completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region eight, the Bearcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Cullman's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Clay-Chalkville by a score of 48-14. Since 2010, Cullman has gone a combined 45-25. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 6A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Cullman has managed to compile a record of 185-99. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 6A and 54th in the AHSAA. The Bearcats have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 1996. The Bearcats are led by head coach Mark Britton who is entering his sixteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 124-55 over the past fifteen seasons at Cullman. Under his direction the Bearcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times. Coach Britton needs nine wins this season to reach the 150 win milestone. The Cullman Bearcats will play in Class 6A region seven during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Bearcats remain in 6A but move from region eight over to region seven. The Bearcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season. The Bearcats have put together a streak of 21 consecutive winning seasons and hope to extend that streak in 2016. The Bearcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Hartselle on Friday, August 19 at J.P. Cain Stadium. Last year the Hartselle Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region eight. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Gardendale by a score of 38-14. Cullman and Hartselle have met a total of 102 times on the football field. The Bearcats have a 47-51-4 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2015 with Hartselle winning by a score of 14-13. Cullman returns 6A All-State Senior offensive lineman Hunter Brannon.
