 2016 Preview 


       Rogers completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Rogers just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region eight with a 3-4 region record.

       Since 2010, Rogers has gone a combined 34-32. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Rogers has managed to compile a record of 129-139. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 4A and 216th in the AHSAA.

       The Pirates are led by head coach Randall Martin who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-25 over the past four seasons at Rogers. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Martin.

       Coach Martin's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 16-25 (39.0%).

       The Rogers Pirates will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2016 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Pirates could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season. Unfortunately, Rogers finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. Rogers has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2012 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Pirates open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Lauderdale County on Friday, August 19 at Pirate Field. Last year the Lauderdale County Tigers finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in second place in Class 3A region eight. The Tigers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Colbert County by a score of 39-20.

       Rogers and Lauderdale County have met a total of 57 times on the football field. The Pirates have a 24-32-1 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2011 with Rogers winning by a score of 23-0.

       Rogers returns 4A All-State Senior punter Bryant Wallace. He was named to the first team last season.
