2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hamilton completed the 2015 season with a 6-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region five, the Aggies earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Hamilton lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Cordova team by a score of 30-20. Hamilton took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2006. The Aggies lost as many games as in any season since 2001. The defense allowed a team record 403 points last season. Since 2010, Hamilton has gone a combined 54-19. Their 74.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hamilton has managed to compile a record of 189-99. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 4A and 48th in the AHSAA. The Aggies are led by head coach Rodney Stidham who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 93-38 over the past eleven seasons at Hamilton. Under his direction the Aggies have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Stidham. Coach Stidham's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 94-45 (67.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Stidham's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times and won four region championships. If Hamilton can win six games this season, Coach Stidham will reach the 100 win milestone. The Hamilton Aggies will play in Class 4A region six during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Aggies remain in 4A but move from region five over to region six. The Aggies will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2005 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2016. Wide receiver Cole Reed returns for his junior season after catching 34 passes for 615 yards and 10 touchdowns last year. The Aggies open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent West Point on Friday, August 19 at Warrior Field. Last year the West Point Warriors finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 5A region eight. The Warriors lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Alexandria by a score of 41-21. Hamilton and West Point have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 4-1-0 record against the Warriors. They last met in 1919 with Hamilton winning by a score of 0-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
