 2016 Preview 


       Collinsville completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region seven, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Collinsville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Randolph County by a score of 70-7.

       Since 2010, Collinsville has gone a combined 45-22. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Collinsville has managed to compile a record of 141-128. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 2A and 168th in the AHSAA.

       The Panthers are led by head coach Ernie Willingham who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 48-39 over the past eight seasons at Collinsville. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Willingham.

       Coach Willingham's overall record as a head football coach in fifteen season stands at 99-69 (58.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Willingham's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won four region championships.

       Coach Willingham can top the 100 win milestone early in the season with just one more victory.

       The Collinsville Panthers will play in Class 2A region six during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Panthers remain in 2A but move from region seven over to region six.

       The Panthers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season.

       The Panthers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Crossville on Friday, August 26 at Cagle Civitan Stadium. Last year the Crossville Lions finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 4A region six. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Geraldine by a score of 38-17.

       Collinsville and Crossville have met a total of 80 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 35-44-1 record against the Lions. They last met in 2003 with Crossville winning by a score of 56-7.

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
