2026 Preview

Calhoun finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Calhoun just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region three with a 2-4 region record.        The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 1999 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.        Calhoun was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.2 points a game.        Since 2010, the Calhoun football program has struggled with a record of 21-139.        Over the past 25 seasons, Calhoun has not won much with a record of 31-219. Their 12.0% winning percentage ranks 61st in Class 1A and 393rd in the AHSAA. The Tigers have struggled on the football field with no winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 1999. Head Coach:        The Tigers are led by head coach Ervin Starr who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-70 over the past eight seasons at Calhoun. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Starr. Season Outlook:        The Calhoun Tigers will play in Class 1A region four during the 2026 season.                   The Tigers will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2026 season at home against non-region opponent Keith on Friday, August 21 at Samuel Bruce Stadium. Last year the Keith Bears finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 1A region four. The Bears closed out the regular season with a loss to Selma by a score of 46-20.

       Calhoun and Keith have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 5-17-0 record against the Bears. They last met in 2025 with Keith winning by a score of 54-36.
