2026 Preview

Cleveland finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Cleveland finished sixth in Class 2A region six with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.        The defense allowed a team record 405 points last season.        Cleveland struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 40.5 points a game.        Since 2010, Cleveland has gone a combined 99-81. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 2A over the past sixteen seasons.        Over the past 25 seasons, Cleveland has managed to compile a record of 140-134. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 2A and 188th in the AHSAA. Head Coach:        The Panthers are led by head coach Will Glaze who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-28 over the past four seasons at Cleveland. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Glaze. Season Outlook:        The Cleveland Panthers will play in Class 2A region five during the 2026 season.               The Panthers enter the 2026 season in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.            The Panthers will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. After just 2 wins last year, Cleveland will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

Season Opener:
       The Panthers open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Susan Moore on Thursday, August 20 at Larry Patterson Field. Last year the Susan Moore Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class 2A region six. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 35-14.

       Cleveland and Susan Moore have met a total of 74 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 33-41-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2025 with Susan Moore winning by a score of 54-28.
