2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Holt finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Holt finished sixth in Class 4A region three with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Ironmen have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2004 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Ironmen last playoff victory came during the 1998 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Holt averaged scoring just 11.9 points a game. The Ironmen also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 41.4 points a game. The Ironmen would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-15 record. Since 2010, the Holt football program has struggled with a record of 19-100. Over the past 25 seasons, Holt has not won much with a record of 64-190. Their 25.0% winning percentage ranks 58th in Class 4A and 371st in the AHSAA. The Ironmen have struggled on the football field with only one winning season during this time. Their last winning season was 1998. The Ironmen are led by head coach Dustin Hyche who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Holt. The Ironmen have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hyche. Coach Hyche's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 2-8 (20.0%). The Holt Ironmen will play in Class 4A region three during the 2022 season. This season, the Ironmen will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. The Ironmen open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Brookwood on Friday, August 19 at Billy Joe Young Field. Last year the Brookwood Panthers finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 6A region four. The Panthers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Oak Grove by a score of 69-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Holt and Brookwood have met a total of 83 times on the football field. The Ironmen have a 58-25-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2019 with Brookwood winning by a score of 38-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
