2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Brookwood finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Brookwood finished sixth in Class 6A region four with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Panthers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. Brookwood struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 36.6 points a game. The Panthers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Brookwood has gone a combined 37-84. Their 30.6% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Brookwood has not won much with a record of 62-190. Their 25.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 6A and 373rd in the AHSAA. The Panthers have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time. The Panthers are led by head coach Mike Bramblett who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-23 over the past three seasons at Brookwood. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bramblett. Coach Bramblett's overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 17-73 (18.9%). The Brookwood Panthers will play in Class 6A region four during the 2022 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Panthers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. The Panthers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Holt on Friday, August 19 at Billy Joe Young Field. Last year the Holt Ironmen finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 4A region three. The Ironmen closed out the regular season with a loss to Beauregard by a score of 35-0. Brookwood and Holt have met a total of 83 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 25-58-0 record against the Ironmen. They last met in 2019 with Brookwood winning by a score of 38-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
