 2022 Preview 


       Brindlee Mountain finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-9 record. Last year Brindlee Mountain finished seventh in Class 3A region seven with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Lions have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Lions have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2022.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Brindlee Mountain averaged scoring just 6.6 points a game. The Lions also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 42.0 points a game.

       The Lions would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-19 record. Since 2010, the Brindlee Mountain football program has struggled with a record of 10-109.

       Over the past 16 seasons, Brindlee Mountain has not won much with a record of 14-145. Their 9.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 3A and 393rd in the AHSAA. The Lions have struggled on the football field with no winning seasons during this time.




       The Lions are led by head coach Keith Garner who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 1-48 over the past five seasons at Brindlee Mountain. The Lions have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Garner.

       Coach Garner's overall record as a head football coach in eighteen season stands at 36-146 (19.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Garner's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

       The Brindlee Mountain Lions will play in Class 3A region seven during the 2022 season.

       The Lions enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 43 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Lions will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region seven. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Brindlee Mountain will be to simply win some games.

       The Lions open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Cherokee on Friday, August 19 at W.L. Harris Stadium. Last year the Cherokee Indians finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in eighth place in Class 1A region eight. The Indians closed out the regular season with a loss to Lynn by a score of 41-0.

       Brindlee Mountain and Cherokee have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Lions have a 1-1-0 record against the Indians. They last met in with
