 2022 Preview 


       Danville completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Danville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region eight with a 2-4 region record.

       The Hawks improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2016. The Hawks last playoff victory came during the 1994 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Since 2010, Danville has gone a combined 37-84. Their 30.6% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Danville has not won much with a record of 76-177. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 3A and 349th in the AHSAA.




       The Hawks are led by head coach Andro Williams who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-5 record in his first season at Danville. The Hawks saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach Williams arrived. The Hawks have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Williams.

       Coach Williams' overall record as a head football coach in fifteen season stands at 129-54 (70.5%). His 129 wins rank 39th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Williams' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times and won six region championships.

       The Danville Hawks will play in Class 3A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Hawks remain in 3A but move from region eight over to region seven.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Hawks if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region seven this season.

       The Hawks open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Lawrence County on Friday, August 19 at Red Devil Stadium. Last year the Lawrence County Red Devils finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 5A region eight. The Red Devils closed out the regular season with a loss to Danville by a score of 35-28.

       Danville and Lawrence County have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Hawks have a 4-8-0 record against the Red Devils. They last met in 2021 with Danville winning by a score of 35-28.
