Helena finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Helena finished sixth in Class 6A region three with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Helena averaged scoring just 12.4 points a game. The Huskies would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Helena is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only four seasons. They have managed a record of 18-25 over the past four years. The Huskies will be under the direction of new head football coach Richie Busby as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Busby's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 40-17 (70.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Busby's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won two region championships. The Helena Huskies will play in Class 6A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Huskies remain in 6A but move from region three over to region five. The Huskies enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 8 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Huskies will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five. The Huskies open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent McAdory on Friday, August 24 at McAdory Stadium. Last year the McAdory Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in second place in Class 6A region four. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Carver Montgomery by a score of 13-7. Helena and McAdory have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
