 2018 Preview

Minor completed the 2017 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Minor just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region six with a 2-4 region record.

Minor took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2013. The Tigers hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just four games which followed a 11-2 record in 2016.

Since 2010, Minor has gone a combined 50-38. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 6A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Minor has managed to compile a record of 161-108. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 6A and 91st in the AHSAA.

The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Adrian Abrams as they enter the 2018 season.

The Minor Tigers will play in Class 6A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 6A but move from region six over to region five.

The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region five this season. Minor came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Ramsay on Thursday, August 23 at Minor Stadium. Last year the Ramsay Rams finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in second place in Class 6A region five. The Rams lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Pinson Valley by a score of 41-13.

Minor and Ramsay have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-3-0 record against the Rams. They last met in 2016 with Ramsay winning by a score of 40-20.
