 2016 Preview

Weaver completed the 2015 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region six, the Bearcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Weaver's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Madison Academy by a score of 56-21.

The Bearcats last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, Weaver has gone a combined 29-36. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Weaver has managed to compile a record of 121-148. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 3A and 233rd in the AHSAA.

The Bearcats are led by head coach Daryl Hamby who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 29-36 over the past six seasons at Weaver. Under his direction the Bearcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hamby.

Coach Hamby's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 29-36 (44.6%).

The Weaver Bearcats will play in Class 3A region five during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Bearcats remain in 3A but move from region six over to region five. The Bearcats have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 71-42 last season. That ranks 3rd in Class 3A and 19th in the AHSAA.

Region five will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Bearcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region five this season.

The Bearcats open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Hayden on Friday, August 19 at Bill Bryan Stadium. Last year the Hayden Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in third place in Class 5A region six. The Wildcats lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Guntersville by a score of 26-10.

Weaver and Hayden have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bearcats have a 2-0-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in with

Weaver returns 3A All-State Senior linebacker Giovanni Mosley. He was named to the second team last season.
