Hayden completed the 2015 season with a 8-4 record. With their 4-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region six, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Hayden reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Guntersville by a score of 26-10. The Wildcats improved in 2015 with their first winning season since 2011. The Wildcats won as many games as in any season since 1992. The 359 points scored by the Wildcats last year were a team record in a single season. It marked the first time since the 2004 season that the Wildcats qualified for the playoffs. The Wildcats hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Register saw improvement as they won eight games following a 1-9 record in 2014. Since 2010, Hayden has gone a combined 22-40. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hayden has managed to compile a record of 93-166. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 5A and 312nd in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Keith Register who is entering his fourth season at the helm. The Wildcats should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Wildcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Weaver on Friday, August 19 at Bill Bryan Stadium. Last year the Weaver Bearcats finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 3A region six. The Bearcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Madison Academy by a score of 56-21. Hayden and Weaver have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 0-2-0 record against the Bearcats. They last met in with Hayden returns 5A All-State Senior athlete Leonard Johnson. He was named to the second team last season.
