 2016 Preview

Red Bay completed the 2015 season with a 11-1 record. The Tigers cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Red Bay captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Red Bay reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Fyffe by a score of 14-7.

The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2007.

The high-scoring Red Bay offense ranked 18th in the AHSAA. They averaged 40.9 points a game.

The Tigers defense dominated most opponents as they ranked 1st in the AHSAA. The defense gave up just 6.4 points a game.

Since 2010, Red Bay has gone a combined 51-18. Their 74.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Red Bay has managed to compile a record of 181-101. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 2A and 64th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2010.

The Tigers are led by head coach Michael D. Jackson who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-3 over the past two seasons at Red Bay. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Jackson.

Coach Jackson's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen season stands at 91-65 (58.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Jackson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won two region championships.

If Red Bay can win nine games this season, Coach Jackson will reach the 100 win milestone.

The Red Bay Tigers will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2016 season.

The Tigers enter the 2016 season riding a 18 game regular season winning streak. Red Bay has won 18 consecutive region games.

The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region eight championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1998 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Colbert Heights on Friday, August 19 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Colbert Heights Wildcats finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 3A region eight.

Red Bay and Colbert Heights have met a total of 40 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 25-15-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2015 with Red Bay winning by a score of 25-13.

Red Bay returns 2A All-State Senior defensive back Kaleb Burroughs. He was named to the first team last season. The Tigers also return Senior running back Tate Ozbirn. He was named to the second team.
