 2016 Preview

Hatton completed the 2015 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region eight, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Hatton's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Falkville by a score of 35-34.

The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, Hatton has gone a combined 24-37. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Hatton has managed to compile a record of 130-133. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 2A and 197th in the AHSAA.

Bart Stephenson will not return as the head football coach at Hatton next season.

His three teams at Hatton finished with a combined record of 15-17. The last two squads reached the playoffs but lost in the first round each season. They were the first playoff spots for the Hornets in ten years.

Denton Bowling is the new head football coach at Hatton. He is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence County where he served as an assistant for two years before moving to Northridge for six seasons.

The Hatton Hornets will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2016 season.

The Hornets will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season.

The Hornets open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent R.A. Hubbard on Friday, August 26 at Hatton Field. Last year the R.A. Hubbard Chiefs finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 1A region eight. The Chiefs ended last season on a positive note with a win over Brilliant by a score of 33-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Hatton and R.A. Hubbard have met a total of 30 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 17-13-0 record against the Chiefs. They last met in 2015 with Hatton winning by a score of 47-6.
