2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lincoln completed the 2015 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Lincoln just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region six with a 3-4 region record. Since 2010, Lincoln has gone a combined 29-38. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lincoln has managed to compile a record of 147-136. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 5A and 164th in the AHSAA. The Golden Bears are led by head coach Brad Wallace who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 15-18 over the past three seasons at Lincoln. Under his direction the Golden Bears have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Wallace. Coach Wallace's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 15-18 (45.5%). The Lincoln Golden Bears will play in Class 5A region four during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Golden Bears remain in 5A but move from region six over to region four. The Golden Bears have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 72-44 last season. That ranks 5th in Class 5A and 26th in the AHSAA. With a little luck and some improvement, the Golden Bears could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season. Lincoln came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Golden Bears open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Leeds on Friday, August 19 at Keith Howard Memorial Stadium. Last year the Leeds Green Wave finished with an overall record of 13-2 and in first place in Class 4A region three. The Green Wave won the Class 4A State Championship last season when they defeated Fayette County by a score of 55-7 in the Super Seven finals in Auburn. Lincoln and Leeds have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Golden Bears have a 5-13-0 record against the Green Wave. They last met in 2013 with Leeds winning by a score of 12-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
