 2016 Preview

Ardmore completed the 2015 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Ardmore finished sixth in Class 5A region eight with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Tigers have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2016.

Ardmore was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.0 points a game.

Since 2010, Ardmore has gone a combined 24-37. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Ardmore has not won much with a record of 74-179. Their 29.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 5A and 348th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers are led by head coach Clint Legg who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 12-19 over the past three seasons at Ardmore. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Legg.

Coach Legg's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 12-19 (38.7%).

The Ardmore Tigers will play in Class 5A region eight during the 2016 season. The Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 60-42 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 5A and 47th in the AHSAA.

It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season.

The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Elkmont on Friday, August 26 at Cooper Field. Last year the Elkmont Red Devils finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 4A region eight. The Red Devils ended last season on a positive note with a win over Clements by a score of 45-31 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Ardmore and Elkmont have met a total of 78 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 51-27-0 record against the Red Devils. They last met in 2015 with Ardmore winning by a score of 33-20.
