 2016 Preview 


       With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region 1, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Opp reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Gordo by a score of 33-14.

       Since 2010, Opp has gone a combined 38-29. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Opp has managed to compile a record of 141-129. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 3A and 161st in the AHSAA.

       The Bobcats are led by head coach Brent Hill who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-8 over the past two seasons at Opp. Under his direction the Bobcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Hill.

       Coach Hill's overall record as a head football coach in two seasons stands at 17-8 (68.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Hill's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times and won one region championship.

      

      The Opp Bobcats will play in Class 3A region 2 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Bobcats remain in 3A but move from region 1 over to region 2.

       The Bobcats should contend for a playoff spot in Region 2 this season.

       The Bobcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent T.R. Miller on Friday, August 26 at Municipal Stadium. Last year the T.R. Miller Tigers finished with an overall record of 10-3 and in first place in Class 3A region 1. The Tigers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Hillcrest Evergreen by a score of 25-22.

       Opp and T.R. Miller have met a total of 35 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 14-21-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2017 with T.R. Miller winning by a score of 54-0.

       Opp returns 3A All-State Senior athlete Orlando Lacey. He was named to the second team last season. The Bobcats also return Junior receiver Reggie Thompson. He was named to the second team.
